November 2: El Sobrante 

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Saturday, 10am-12noon for members, 12-2pm for general public. Memberships are available at the door. Only bookstore in El Sobrante with a very large selection of inexpensive books in all categories: Preparing for the holidays, Children's books, YA, Graphic Novels, Mysteries, Cookbooks, Crafts, Romance, History, Pets, Biographies, Travel, Art, Music, Sci Fi, Novels, Sports, and more. All funds earned go to support programs at the library.

November 2: Local Author Showcase 

at Hercules Library

Saturday, 1-3pm. Celebrate the joy of reading with an author showcase featuring five East Bay authors: Rev Valdez, Hayley Dennings, Margaret Lucke, Phelicia Lang and Ana Galván. The event will kick off with short book readings by the authors, followed by an inspirational Q&A. Patrons will have the opportunity to talk to the authors and purchase copies of their works. 109 Civic Dr., Hercules. 510-245-2420.

 

November 6, 13, 20, 27: Homework Help at Hercules Library

Wednesdays, 3-6pm. Now offering homework help for students in grades K-8th. No registration required. First come, first serve. Homework helpers can only assist with school-assigned worksheets and textbook problems.

November 14: Indigenous Tales and Songs with Storyteller Alicia Mary Retes, at Hercules Library

Thursday, 3:30pm, Join Storytelling Artisan and Educator Alicia M. Retes for an introduction of Indigenous Central California storytelling and musical rhythm instruments. Alicia's stories promote diversity, peaceful relations, and prosperity for all and are geared toward children ages 5 and older and their adult caregivers. 109 Civic Dr.,

NOVEMBER 16: AAUW West Contra Costa Branch — Mystery Writers Cara Black and Ellen Kirschman

Saturday, 10am, program starts at 1030am. Sisters in Crime authors Cara Black and Ellen Kirschman will discuss their latest books. At Christ Lutheran Church, 780 Ashbury Ave., El Cerrito. Free. All are welcome. Presented by
